What our Friends are saying about us:
--Jerred North, SOU Student“I found the Omega House in the fall of 2009 and immediately connected with the aim to engage alternate viewpoints, academic fields of knowledge, and spiritual traditions in productive and reflexive dialogue. This brand of interaction serves to link the individual to the community and the community to the individual; a dynamic that I believe, both for myself and others, is of great value in our increasingly connected global world.”
“The most beneficial insight I have accrued during my time with the Omega House regards our various ways of knowing. The possibility for the brand of reason and skepticism encouraged by the university to coexist with the intuitive knowledge and subjective experience of spirituality is a dichotomy that, I believe, those of us who wish to live a life that strives towards our highest potential must consider and act on.”
--Dan Gibbs, SOU Student“As a young traveler on the nebulous road of life, I’ve found that there are few altruistic avenues provided to students and community alike. Until I had enrolled her at Southern Oregon University, a thought never envisaged of an organization existing that invited persons of all castes to discuss and ponder the compelling inquiries of a personal, spiritual nature. It so happened that I had the opportunity to meet Rich Lang as a freshman, in his “Love, Sex, and Gender in the World Religions” course. A revelation came that this was a man with a deep commitment to the arts, spirituality, and all things related to the yearnings and manifestations of the human aesthetic. His dedication and youthful exuberance for his interactions with other students encouraged me to sit in on a few meetings at the Omega House.”
“Although I’ve been unable to regularly attend throughout these last three years, due to conflicting obligations, I do my best to return when I can. The round table discussions I’ve been a part of have been exponentially enlightening, invigorating, and engender a higher awareness self and the world around me. Credence is given to the notion that we as human beings have an overwhelming, and many times untapped potential, to deeply understand and relate with one another’s personal life experiences, regardless of our varied backgrounds. Omega House is an invaluable resource that deserves continued support from the university and the community. I sincerely hope it can continue to enrich the lives of people as it has mine.”
--Ken Deveney, Adult Life-Long Learner“For me Omega House is a place to think and dialog about things that matter. It has helped me see a wider universe of ideas and has been helpful in clarifying my values. Omega House strikes a good balance between the mundane and the mystic, the everyday and the transcendent, working to unify inner outer experience.”
-- Bob Vlach, Adult Life-Long Learner“The Omega House…has offered me a chance to learn from others of various traditions. If there is a possibility of saving our existence from collapse in this meteoric pace of change then understanding and tolerance is a crucial key. I am in the hope that the values of communication in a non judgmental setting will flourish in this group and it may serve as a template for other communities. A key to success will be in the tools of facilitation to keep the conversation away from polarization and toward conciliation and understanding. Thanks, Rich, for your skills.”
